The Solution for Spaces with Limited Access
One of the most common uses for Ultra Base panels occurs when artificial grass surfacing is specified for an area with very limited access. In these cases, building a turf base using 4" to 6" of crushed stone is not an option, but since the space still requires drainage, cushioning and a method to attach the turf, Ultra Base panels are ideal for the job.
The Project
The goal of this project was to create a fun, safe and easy to maintain space for the daycare area of a popular resort. The 1,300 square foot space was located outdoor, but it was in a courtyard with very limited access.
The Solution
By using Ultra Base Panels, the builder was able to achieve every goal that the daycare required.
- Drainage and support - A base system that would drain well yet provide the support needed for the artificial grass.
- Impact attenuation - While the playground did not feature any equipment with significant fall heights, the added protection provided by the Ultra Base panels was appreciated.
- Quick and easy to install - The installation required little land prep and the Ultra Base panels could be easily transported by hand to the courtyard.
Simplified Installation
Using Ultra Base panels made the entire installation project a breeze. Once the panels were put in place, all the turf installers had to do was roll out the turf, glue the seams and fasten the turf to edges of some of the panels.

The Result
Once completed, the new daycare featured the luxurious artificial grass that the kids love to play on along with the safety and cleanliness that parents and daycare providers appreciated.
