Saturated in Seattle
When your city averages about 150 days a year of rain, providing safe and clean places for kids to play is a real challenge. Ultra Base panels helped one school in Seattle by helping create a huge synthetic turf fields that drains incredibly well while still providing the structural support necessary for such a large project.
The Project
The goal was to replace a worn out dirt field that had very little access for the trucks and equipment needed to perform extensive earth removal and rock replacement. So, teaming with Seattle-based design firm DA Hogan and the turf installation professionals at FieldTurf Washington, we set out to build a new 56,470 square foot field at Lakeview Elementary in Seattle Washington.
FieldTurf’s Donny Jones recognized the benefits that the Ultra Base systems Champion panel afforded for this logistically challenging synthetic turf retrofit. By combining inline drains with the tremendous drainage capacity of the Ultra Base panels, a perfect drainage scenario was created.
The end result was a multi-use field incorporating baseball, soccer and plenty of space for other activities. All of this was completed and ready for play in just four short weeks.
