Converting Junk Yard to Sports Academy
One man’s lifelong dream of building a sports complex where athletes of all ages, skill and financial means are welcome to play, exercise and grow as individuals has been realized in St. Petersburg Florida. What used to be a junkyard, is not a state-of-the-art athletic field sports complex thanks to Ultra Base foundation panel system.
The Project
What makes this transformation most inspiring is that it occurred as a result of passion, hard work, generosity and engaging community spirit.
The project started with cleaning out the former junkyard, leveling and grading the land, and fixing any surface imperfections. The team then created a well-compacted, level ground surface - the critical component for building a stable and long-lasting sub-base.
After this, the geotextile fabric and Ultra Base panels were put in place and the turf was laid. When compared to other field base systems, Ultra Base provides better stability, drainage, and playability than any other product on the market. Watch the video.
One of my lifelong dreams was to build a soccer complex where kids and adults can come and play. When I researched about building an artificial soccer field complex, I found there were several methods to do it, but was sold on the functionality, safety and ease of use of the Ultra Base panels...so I decided to go with them.
