On average it takes over 300 dump truck loads of earth, rock and gravel to be removed and redeposited into a typical ball field to build a solid base. How far away is the landfill?  How far away is the stone yard? Now try pulling this off on a crowded freeway or city street.  It all adds up to one big logistical headache.
