FEATURED PROJECT Synthetic Turf for Myrtle Beach by Peter Albanes

STMB- Synthetic Turf for Myrtle Beach by Peter Albanes is extremely pleased to share our recent project with you. Indigo Landscape & Construction, Inc.’s Amy Steuer has been a great partner to accomplish and complete this project for Marriott’s OceanWatch Villas at Grande Dunes, Myrtle Beach, SC.

This is an introduction to utilizing superior materials to promote an application of quality synthetic turf. We used an environmentally sound product to support planarity and to increase the life expectancy of the -turf-, STI- Synthetic Turf International- SOFTLAWN CX 133 Bermuda Blend. UBS-UltraBaseSystems Champion panels are nature’s best friend. STMB- Synthetic Turf for Myrtle Beach by Peter Albanes was awarded the project and teamed up with Indigo Landscaping & Construction, Inc. , Pawleys Island, SC.

All synthetic turf areas were prepared, framed, and bolstered in professional style using a nailer board with a high tensile strength geo-fabric. This system is highly permeable for improved drainage while being ready for intense beach/vacation traffic. We infused roughly 1.5 lbs per sq. ft. blending processed silica sand with ‘Envirofil- Microban’ to support the fibers of STI Bermuda Blend for the long haul.

This installation included a separate 1300 sf. + daycare zone and over 7000 sf. premier beach front of the GrandStrand here in Myrtle Beach, SC. While doing so, the UBS panels allowed STMB- STI for Myrtle Beach to better engineer features to control erosion and flooding as we raised the grade 13-15 inches for more than 1100 sf. A new 60 linear ft. block wall was built that also was designed to address drainage as custom utility storage bins were built. A lush eco-friendly ‘STI Bermuda Blend’ will greet resort guests and owners to access beach chairs and common areas year- round instead of dirt and marsh waters. The GrandStrand of Myrtle Beach has the support of the grand UBS Champion panel system.
