Through the generosity of local civic groups and The Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation, AstroTurf was hired to build this field so the special needs kids in Fredericksburg, Virginia now have an ADA approved field they can call their own.
After determining proper drain characteristics of the existing soils, the installation team did an excellent job in preparing the base and it was quickly covered with the UBS geo fabric.
The panels arrived on site and were unpacked and ready to be shuttled on to the awaiting field base.
An off-road fork lift made easy work of bringing the panels on to the job site.
Good, old-fashioned team work was required to lay out the panels in preparation of installation.
Row by row the panels are laid in place and assembled.
The panel installation went very quickly, and was ready for the awaiting turf.
This low nap polypropylene turf meets all the ADA requirements necessary for wheel chair traffic and the UBS panels, of course, can handle the load of the motorized chairs and create a solid base underfoot eliminating any difficulty in the maneuverability on the field for manual or motorized wheelchairs.
Time to “Play Ball!” for these deserving kids
The team at UltraBaseSystems® is very proud that we could be a small part of this extraordinary project and want to thank all those who made it happen.
